Your Company Data Might Be Worth $2M

Teams that build AI models pay to license real working records: help desk threads, internal wikis, quotes, project notes and years of shared inboxes. The data stays yours and your staff carry on using it, so the licence fee is extra income from files you already have. Answer three questions to see if your business can take part.

Side hustle income calculator

Side gigs nearly always look better on the payout screen than in your bank account, because fees, costs, unpaid minutes and tax arrive later. Enter what each job or sale pays, how many you do, how long each one honestly takes and what it costs, and the calculator finds your monthly profit and true hourly pay. It then lines that up against your day job, so you can decide whether the extra hours are worth giving up.

An hour of each, side by side

What one hour of the side hustle pays before and after costs and tax, next to one hour of your main job.

Profit at a faster or slower pace

More jobs spread your fixed costs further but eat more of your week. All profit figures are after fees, costs and tax.

How the profit is calculated

It starts with what one job leaves you after the platform takes its cut and the job's own costs are paid. That is scaled to a month, fixed costs are taken off and tax is put aside.

  1. Profit on one job

The customer's payment, less the platform fee and the costs of doing the work.

    per job = pay × (1 − fee) − costs per job

  2. Monthly profit before tax

A month is counted as 4.33 weeks.

before tax = per job × jobs per week × 4.33 − fixed costs

  3. Put tax aside

Only on profit; a loss creates no tax here.

    after tax = before tax × (1 − tax)

  4. True hourly pay

After-tax profit divided by every hour the side hustle takes.

    per hour = after tax ÷ (jobs × 4.33 × minutes ÷ 60)

Side hustle FAQ

How can I tell what my side hustle really pays?

Start with what customers pay, subtract platform fees, the cost of each job and your fixed monthly costs, and put tax aside. Then divide what remains by every hour it takes, travel, waiting, messages and admin included. That is your true hourly pay.

Is side hustle income taxable?

In most countries it is, once profit passes a threshold. In the US, self-employment tax usually applies on top of income tax, which is why setting aside 20 to 30 percent of profit is common advice. Check the rules where you live.

Which costs do side hustlers tend to forget?

Vehicle wear and loss of value for driving gigs, phone and data plans, packaging and postage for sellers, tool subscriptions, and the unpaid time between jobs. Rideshare and delivery drivers especially find real profit far below the payout once car costs are included.

Is it worth it if it pays less per hour than my job?

It can be, if it builds a skill, a customer base or something you could sell one day, or if it uses hours you could not spend on paid work anyway. But if overtime or a pay rise would earn more per hour, those may be the better use of your time.

How do I raise what I earn per hour?

Charge more, cut unpaid time per job, group similar tasks together, and drop the jobs or platforms with the steepest fees. The table shows profit at different job counts, and the bars compare your hourly pay with your main job.

How many hours a week is sensible for a side hustle?

As many as you can keep up without hurting your main job, health or relationships. Many people find 5 to 15 hours a week manageable. The calculator shows the profit at whatever pace you choose.
